New NUS Centre for Sustainable Medicine

The first of its kind in Asia and the largest in the world, the new Centre will accelerate Singapore’s net zero transition in healthcare and pave the way for more climate-resilient health systems.

To tackle health threats posed by climate change, the University has also launched an interdisciplinary research programme on the impact of climate change on human health, and is positioning itself as a regional forerunner in research on heat and health.

These announcements were made at the COP28 United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in December 2023.

NUS launches new scenario-modelling facility to support regional nature-based carbon projects

To support and accelerate regional cooperation on nature-based carbon projects, the $1 million facility was launched at the COP28 UN Climate Change Conference to provide a platform for different stakeholders to navigate the complex landscape of nature-based carbon projects together.

The interactive platform will enable users to model outcomes from different scenarios depending on current or forecasted market or policy changes, which will facilitate the development of strategic collaborations across the 10 Southeast Asian countries.
