Assoc Prof Simon Tay wins the President’s Award for the Environment 2025
The award, Singapore’s highest environmental accolade, recognises Assoc Prof Tay’s enduring impact and leadership in advancing Singapore’s sustainable development, particularly his dedication and efforts in addressing transboundary haze pollution both locally and in the region.
On his win, Assoc Prof Tay said, “I’m honoured and I share the award with those who have supported my work. At NUS, I’m thankful for academic colleagues who appreciate that our knowledge can be shared and used.”

The Earth is reaching the limits of its self-regulating capability, which is essential to keeping the planet hospitable for human life, warned renowned climate scientist Johan Rockström, well known for leading the development of the planetary boundaries framework.
The Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany was delivering his keynote lecture as part of the NUS120 Distinguished Speaker Series on 16 October 2025.
