Food waste generated at NUS dining establishments is channeled to a treatment facility for co-digestion with used water sludge for energy recovery under a National Environment Agency initiative.

To address the problem of contamination in recycling bins and encourage users to recycle correctly, specially designed “Recycle Right” bins that employ behavioral nudges is being rolled out on campus.

Thermal insulation offered by green spaces in buildings such as green roofs, roof gardens and vertical greenery reduces heat drawn into buildings, and hence the amount of energy required to cool the buildings.

Campus greening efforts are being intensified to both mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change, as well as to enhance campus biodiversity.
