Sustainability education provides for the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes that will enable a more sustainable and equitable society in Singapore and beyond.
Undergraduate Programmes
At NUS, we infuse sustainability into our undergraduate education. Our general education requirements and common curriculum instil the critical thinking and sense-making competencies needed to understand the complex trade-offs between environmental, social and economic concerns. Our students become familiar with the latest scientific and technological possibilities to mitigate the effects of climate change.
A number of our degree programmes – especially in Architecture and Building, Humanities, Science, Engineering, Law, Business and Medicine - dive further into the key principles and concepts of sustainability in their respective fields.
We also offer sustainability-themed undergraduate degree programmes, many of which adopt a multi-disciplinary approach. Alternatively, students with an interest in this area may read a sustainability-themed second major or minor.

Our short courses last one to three days, and provide a comprehensive introduction to specialised topics in sustainability and climate change. We also have executive education programmes for senior executives and managers looking to expand their expertise in this topic.
Those looking for more in-depth education spanning a few months can consider enrolling in our Executive Certificates (ECs) or Graduate Certificates (GCs). These ECs and GCs are credit-bearing; credits may be transferred to a relevant postgraduate degree programme.
